Disasters that could wipe out the world

What is a disaster? What disasters have you heard of? What disasters could wipe out the world (natural…man-made…never-before seen…)? Is the world more dangerous today than it was 300 years ago?

This lesson is a foray into the apocalyptic, and could be an intriguing conversation for your student. Definitely not bland “educational content”.

A disaster is something very bad that happens.  These are a few disasters.

In 2011, the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami was most powerful ever recorded in Japan, and killed 10,000 people.

The Tōhoku tsunami flooded the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant and caused radioactive contimantion of the atmosphere and water.

These are just some examples of huge disasters.  Try not to think too much about it or you won’t be able to sleep at night.
